I Will Give You Rest | Rev. Deborah Phillips

Jesus said, “Come be with me for you carry heavy burden, I will give you rest.”  In this in-between time – after Thanksgiving and before Christmas, let us go within. Let us lay down the stress of the outside world, which is in turmoil, and prepare for the season of Advent – a time meant for inner contemplation of the coming of the Light, but is more often fraught with busyness and distraction.

Giving to a need or out of duty is outward centered. It is a material world action. Giving from the consciousness of Divine supply is inner-centered. One involves the ego and is a way to gain attention and gratitude. The other, inner-centered action comes from your internal flow, so there is never a sense of depletion or a need to be rewarded.

Human willpower is insufficient to carry us from idea to fulfillment. Through Spiritual Will we actuate by choice or inclination. Willingness is the antidote to willfulness as it becomes cooperation.
